Riverside Grove Home Owners Association celebrated its 6th Annual National Night Out on October 7th at Bob Bryant Park. The volunteer organizers for this year’s event were Sara Abee Bell and Darcy Long. The months of planning and hard work made the night a big success.
The Home Owners Association provided soft drinks and chicken from Chicken Express along with prizes of: T shirts, $25.00 gift cards, note pads, and Riverside Grove tote bags printed with the logo and web address. Plus many prizes donated by local business were given away. Free face painting was provided for the children in attendance, and were able to view an ambulance, fire trucks, and city police cars up close.
Riverside Grove neighbors were visited by the Mayor of Bastrop and Justice of the Peace Judge Weddle. Also attending were Police Chief David Board, Assistant Chief Matt Wagner, several officers from the police force, along with special guest McGruff the crime fighting dog. Members of the Citizens on Patrol, several City Council members, and the Bastrop City Manager stopped by during the evening.
The HOA Board was pleased to see so many home owners attend this year, making this our biggest year ever, with a total of 202 residents and guests. This is what National Night Out is all about; meeting your neighbors, getting to know one another in your community, and having the opportunity to meet your local city leaders.
